About The Art Class

It all began during the extensive summer holidays…

….. around Lynette's kitchen table when children came to paint, draw, stick, construct & experiment with all sorts of materials & mediums. They were having fun while learning & expressing themselves creatively. With feedback from parents & children Lynette quickly realised she was offering something unique and not prescriptive. Encouraged to develop the idea further, The Art Class was born & open for business, offering a fresh new approach to art workshops which nurtured individuality, resourcefulness & problem solving. Children learnt how to make structures & images from scratch which, when complete, were not only beautiful but art to be proud of.

….We strive to get the best from your children and to exceed your expectations…

Creativity was explored with a range of ever-expanding projects. Instead of decorating pre-existing shapes or making “cookie-cutter art”, children started from scratch and by so doing, learnt how an artwork evolved. We ensured they took gentle steps to achieve independence, making decisions about their own work, while developing new skills and learning techniques. On completion, their pieces were lovingly presented, giving the children an immense sense of achievement and pride whilst also becoming a great marker in their development & childhood.

Lynette Pitzolu, Founder

After graduating from Central Saint Martins School of Art with an honours degree in Fine Art-Sculpture & a post graduate diploma from Cyprus College of Art, Lynette had a varied career from artist to illustrator & teacher to designer. Clients included The Conran Shop, Liberty of London, Paperchase & Designers Guild to name a few.

She founded The Art Class in 2010, a flexible solution to accommodate her young children, which evolved into a growing business teaching a range of specially designed projects. In 2014 she was approached to teach painting & drawing in after school clubs locally while in the holidays The Art Class decamped to St George's College, Weybridge whilst also running workshops, parties and tutoring from her own studio.

Seeing the demand and a growing interest from parents, in 2019 Lynette launched 'Picasso & Prosecco' a face to face art event with a difference for adults, why should children have all the fun? A fabulous way to socialise with friends and benefit from doing something creative, a real feel-good evening.

During Lockdown, she took her entire business online within 3 weeks, offering live classes for all age groups which provided an opportunity for everyone both in the UK and overseas to take part whilst also offering recordings for those who were unable to make the sessions. She continues to run bespoke, private, corporate events, face to face after school clubs and online sessions on request.
